EATING'S NOT CHEATING: MC CHRIS' THIRD ALBUM CONTINUES AN INCREDIBLE RUN

RATING: 85/100. INCREDIBLE ALBUM WITH GREAT TRACKS AND A VERY FUN FEEL OVERALL. THE ENERGY IS OFF THE WALLS FUN ON THIS ALBUM AND IT'S A THROUGH AND THROUGH ENJOYABLE LISTEN.

This album is slightly more polished than his first two, while still keeping that grit from the previous projects. mc chris shows us a longer, more in-depth approach to the album format - ditching the previous format he was using and swapping it for what would be seen on more of projects to come in the future.

You can tell that this is an earlier mc chris album by the production alone. There's some elements of what would become known as hyperpop which is super interesting to hear on a project like this one. Chris flows very well and his iconic vocals pair wonderfully with the wacky and fast-paced production throughout.

This album is overall much better than his previous effort 'Knowing Is Half The Hassle', and it introduces us to a more long-form album format that he would go on to use in a lot of his other project down the road. I like the lack of skits here since I found them to be a little too much on 'mc chris is dead', despite them being enjoyable - I felt that they were a little long. This album is just full of tracks that all sound different and introduce us to new and exciting ideas from the mc.

I really like the ideas on this album and how different all of the sounds in the production are for each track. There's a ton of variety here and mc really experiments with styles all throughout the runtime of the album.

One thing I do think is that this album is somewhat lacking in songs that really stick. The songs from both 'mc chris is dead' and 'MC Chris Goes to Hell' are very catchy and memorable, these songs are great, but they don't really stick as much as some of the tracks from his later albums. He was still finding his footing with this album and it's a very good project with some very enjoyable songs and a fun, high energy feel to it.

'Robotdog' (as well as the following track, 'Evergreen') is one of the highlights of the album without a doubt and I especially love the pacing of it . It's a fast, fun song and it displays exactly what you would want from an mc chris song. The songs here are fun and full of energy, practically bouncing off the walls with the hyper feeling of each track. The overall consistency of the album is good and the pacing and variety are incredible, making for an overall fun listen from front to back.

The second half of this album is especially strong, and the energy doesn't slow for even a second.
