KYLIE MINOGUE: TENSION

SCORE: 85/100. EXCELLENT ALBUM THAT IS FUN THROUGHOUT AND SOMETHING WORTH DANCING TO.

Sixteen albums in - she's still got it.

A modern adaptation of her previous sound, 'Tension' goes back to Kylie's dance/electro-pop roots and makes for one fun record. The album is focused more on the sound of each song rather than following and sticking to one individual theme. This makes the album full of incredible variety and soundscapes throughout the short and sweet 35 minute runtime.

The cover art for the album perfectly encapsulates the sound you will be getting when you listen to this album, the bright, shimmery sound infused with electropop, house, synthpop, dance-pop, and disco - all in one, neatly packed album. It's not Kylie's most interesting/memorable project, but it holds up as one of the best pop albums to come out in the last few years, and the sound is something I wish more albums would stick to.

'Tension' has a lot of 80s sounds mixed in - being displayed prominently with the synths and overall production style. It's a modern take on the synthpop sounds of the 80s - an era that Kylie was around for and making music in, but her real pop opus would be created with 2001's 'Fever'.

This album shows how and why Kylie is considered to be one of the greatest pop artists of all time, and it further shows that she still has that talent within her. She hasn't lost that spark, and 'Tension' is beautiful proof of that being more than true.

'Tension' is full of incredible highs, and 'Padam Padam' will go on as one of the greatest pop songs of the 21st century. The title track is another highlight that really displays the feeling of the album. If you want just a taste of what to expect with this project, look at the cover art and listen to track 4, the title track. It is the PERFECT use of a title track, perfectly encapsulating the fun feel of the album as well as diving into Kylie's artistry and musical style.

Variety is one of the biggest elements of this album - each song is unapologetically fun and different from the last, and it's an album that can make anyone get up and dance. It feels like it could be a set at a disco club back in the day, and the vibe of the album is both fun and playful.

This is an album to let loose and have fun to. It's a freeing, fun, and exciting experience - each beat will grab you and take you on a journey full of dancing and love, and it's a ride to stay on.
