SCORE: 77/100. NOT AS ENJOYABLE AS SOME OF HIS OTHER PROJECTS, BUT IT HAS SOME VERY GOOD MOMENTS ON IT AND IT REMAINS CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT.
This album has a cleaner sound to the production and it sounds more "cleaned up" when compared to his previous project. This is when his music started to really get polished and it shows. The production is a little more simple here but that fun style is still very much in tact here.
mc chris is trying something a bit different on this album and I don't enjoy it quite as much as I enjoyed the sounds presented on 'Eating's Not Cheating'. This is still a very solid project, but it isn't as fun as his previous work. I think the production lacks the depth that it had on his previous albums and it feels a little bit slower. There are more rock elements here which I like, but it wasn't mixed in with enough other elements in some cases.
I do like the style of this album but I feel as if it wasn't done to the full potential that it had. There is a feeling of something missing in the production and it feels like it is lacking in some areas, especially when compared to some of his other albums. This is probably my least favorite project by him so far, despite my rating being higher than I gave 'Knowing Is Half The Hassle'. I think this is overall a better album, but it isn't one I see myself coming back to much.
There are some very strong songs on this album, but I feel like the mixing quality brings the album down as a whole. There are some issues with the overall sound, the audio is mixed in a way that makes it a bit fuzzy, and the production doesn't have as much depth as it could.
The songs start to pick up a bit more after the first track (maybe first two), but I just found the production here to be less enjoyable than what is on his other projects.
Overall, this is a solid project from mc, but it is one of his weakest. It is not as good as his previous album 'Eating's Not Cheating', and it isn't an album I see myself coming back to much. The second half has some of the more memorable tracks with 'Wild' and 'Townie' really sticking out. I really loved the second half and it made me raise my score up from the original 75 I had in mind to a 77. The songs are a bit longer here, and this album does not have any skits which is a bit odd for an mc chris album, but it works very well.
