THORNAPPLE: CAPITAL DISEASE

RATING: 78/100. GOOD, OVERALL WELL DONE AND ENJOYABLE, BUT NOT MY FAVORITE.

*This EP was recommended to me by someone on Album of the Year who has recommended me another project by this band as well.

I liked 'Strange Weather' and I think this EP is even more engaging than that LP was.

I love the production on this little EP a whole lot. The instrumentals are wonderfully done and they are mixed in with the vocals perfectly - the sound is wonderfully put together and has a very deep sense of harmony within it.

The instrumentals are what really stand out on this project to me. I can't say much of anything about the lyrics since I do not speak the language but I do like the vocals here a lot. I think the lead singer has a very nice voice that is well-utilized on their projects. He sings softly but has a good range that can go higher or lower/softer or stronger depending on the tone of the track.

Overall, this is a very well put together project. It isn't something I see myself coming back to to listen to on a regular basis but it is an enjoyable little EP for the most part. I think the songs could go without being so long (some of them), but I don't mind that aspect too much, especially since it's only 28 minutes in length.

This EP displays the talents and strengths of the band wonderfully and I think this is something I would've really enjoyed some years back when I was very into some music like this. It isn't my jam now but I definitely respect this band and think they work and sound very good together.

'The Taste Of Pomegranate' is a song that runs for 8 minutes and 11 seconds but I think the time is used up very well. It doesn't drag and it feels like it was really meant to be that the song was that length. It used different sounds and blended more into a multi-track kind of feeling with the overall progression. It's like how Justin Timberlake has his fair share of long songs, but they don't drag - they use the time effectively and they just wouldn't be the same if they were any shorter.

'Capital Disease' feels very different to me when compared to 'Strange Weather', and it's in the best way possible. I like the "harder" sounds of this EP and it mixes and matches with some different styles, sounds, and moods very well. There is a good sense of variety as well as general consistency within this EP that makes it refreshing and interesting to listen to, especially if you're looking for something that isn't very "typical", since this EP only has 9 ratings.

It's without a doubt worth a listen and the short amount of time that it takes to do so. I think out of the two projects of theirs I have heard this is the one that I would recommend more.
